Basic Vegan “Cheese” Sauce
There are tons of vegan cheese sauce recipes out there, many of which get very creative with the ingredients. This is just the basic cheese sauce that I use. It’s super easy and it only takes a few minutes to make… perfect. Pour it over veggies, baked potatoes, nachos, or french fries.
Like the name of this recipe suggests, it is a basic recipe. Feel free to add spices, herbs, jalapeños, etc. depending on what you’re making.

Basic Vegan “Cheese” Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar Daiya
- 1 cup dairy-free milk (I highly recommend So Delicious unsweetened coconut milk in this recipe. It's thick & creamy, and perfect for "cheese" sauces)
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- black pepper, to taste
Directions
- Mix together the dairy-free milk and nutritional yeast in a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil.
- Add the cheddar Daiya and black pepper to taste. Stir constantly until the Daiya is melted, about 2 minutes.
